PCSK9 inhibitors: a major advance in cholesterol-lowering drug therapy

Every so often a medical advance comes along that rewrites the script for treating a disease or condition. After today’s announcements of impressive results of a new type of cholesterol-lowering drug, that scenario just might happen in the next few years. The new drugs, called PCSK9 inhibitors, are monoclonal antibodies. They target and inactivate a specific protein in the liver. Knocking out this protein, called proprotein convertase subtilisin kexin 9, dramatically reduces the amount of harmful LDL cholesterol circulating in the bloodstream. Lower LDL translates…

The Hunt for October; Nothing to do with climate, but I thought you might find it interesting ICEAGENOW

https://www.iceagenow.info/the-hunt-for-october/ The Hunt for October Dr. Klaus L.E. Kaiser Submarine warfare systems are in a class of their own. You may have seen the 1990 espionage thriller movie The Hunt for Red October. It portrays a late Cold War era encounter of various submarines. Suffice to say, a real suspense flick. In WWI, German U-boats (submarines) were highly successful in sinking ships of foreign navies and merchant vessels. Initially the sudden loss of those vessels was unexplained but the then novel submarine warfare technology was quickly…

The Keystone Cops of Australian Medicine. PART 3

Now, the brouhaha is about vaccinations. Dr Gannon mentioned VAXXed. Clearly an X-rated movie for him, poor soul, but I watched it and it certainly issues enough red flags to think about our vaccination program. In doing research for my book, ‘Chasing Antelopes’ I noted the issue was not settled and that we should all be wary when our governments tell us everything is perfect, then force us to accept medical recommendations as orders rather than options. As reported in The Age August 26, 2017,…

The Keystone Cops of Australian Medicine PART 2

Did AHPRA make an example of Dr Fettke? Prior to AHPRA’s ruling, a 2013 Senate Inquiry highlighted the failings of AHPRA’s complaints-handling in order to guarantee public safety. As a result of this investigation, there was a call for a more strict handling of complaints against practitioners by AHPRA. This could have motivated relentless pursuing of legal action against Dr Fettke for giving out unsolicited nutrition advice in favour of low carb. Gary Fettke: punished for speaking the truth The dietary evidence points to a low carb diet…

The Keystone Cops of Australian Medicine, Medical Foundations, AHPRA and the role of the Government. (with apologies to the Keystone Cops) PART1

This is one long blog but stick with it— digging through meters of BS in hip-boots, a shovel and a bucket takes a bit of time. Recently Pete Evans came under yet another attack by the ‘authorities’ for his support and promotion of The Paleo Diet. Michael Gannon, the President of the AMA called him ‘Paleo Pete’: derision I suspect, to lower Pete’s status in the eyes of the Australian public. Here are some of the less than articulate comments from said President after the…

Hyperbaric Oxygen and Conventional Medicine

I have just come back from a conference in New Orleans about the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and its application in many medical conditions. This was sponsored by International Hyperbaric Medical Association at the 11th International Symposium For Hyperbaric Medicine and it was one of the best conferences I have been to— right up there with the first Low Carb, High Fat Conference masterminded by the brilliant Prof Tim Noakes in Capetown, South Africa, two years ago. These meetings are free of the pharmaceutical and food industry influences that…

Fastest decline in solar activity in 9,300 years

Could signal a descent into Maunder Minimum-like conditions. “The recent prolonged solar minimum and subsequent weak solar cycle 24 have led to suggestions that the grand solar maximum may be at an end,” says this study on nature.com. The study, published in 2015, looked at past variations of solar activity. In 2010, the study found, scientists estimated a mere 8% chance of a return to Maunder Minimum-like conditions within the next 40 years. However, “the decline in solar activity has continued, to the time of…

The United Nations and Red Meat- Ridiculous Rubbish Again.

By now, any reader of my blog will know that I think most organizations that act as authoritarian ‘guardians’ of our lives are corrupt, using their official positions of power to make sure that they have a great life at our expense for not much mental or physical outlay. Here is an a example of utter imbecilty. It comes from the UN so that imbecility and corruption are right at home in this announcement. Hip boots on, folks and let’s wade in. “Meat should be…

Australian ‘experts’ on Male Hormones, Fat Loss, Heart Disease and Diabetes.

It’s been a long while since I blogged here. A lot of ‘spare’ time was used up with getting my book, ‘Chasing Antelopes‘ ready for the international market: all done by May 17. Now for the really hard work in promoting it! Well here goes with this blog – and it’s rather long. Mother Nature is amazing at mostly getting things right. I now have a visiting flock of birds that flies in every morning and night.  More often on weekends – how do they…
